CNN —Close flybys of Io, one of Jupiter’s moons and the most volcanically active world in our solar system, have revealed a lava lake and a towering feature called “Steeple Mountain” on the moon’s alien surface. “We also got some great close-ups and other data on a 200-kilometer-long (127-mile-long) lava lake called Loki Patera. Juno detected the mountain with the help of the sun shining on Io’s surface, which created dramatic shadows that revealed a very sharp peak. NASA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI/MSSSAs an outdoors enthusiast, Bolton joked that Io’s Steeple Mountain should be one of the solar system’s skiing and snowboarding destinations. The mission team used Juno’s Microwave Radiometer instrument to create maps of Io’s surface, showing how incredibly smooth it is.

Stargazers across the Northern Hemisphere should catch a glimpse as soon as possible — either this week or early next — because it will be another 400 years before the wandering ice ball returns. The comet, which is kilometer-sized (1/2-mile), will sweep safely past Earth on Sept. 12, passing within 78 million miles (125 million kilometers). The comet will come closest to the sun — closer than Mercury is — on about Sept. 17 before departing the solar system. “The comet looks amazing right now, with a long, highly structured tail, a joy to image with a telescope,” he said.

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb believes that he may have found alien technology. His team found 10 tiny spheres from a meteor that landed off the coast of Papua New Guinea in 2014. The US Space Command said it was "99.999%" certain that the fragments came from another solar system, per CBS. "They will exit the solar system in 10,000 years — just imagine them colliding with another planet far away a billion years from now," he said. "It will take us tens of thousands of years to exit our solar system with our current spacecraft to another star," the astrophysicist added.
